What we love - spring kitchens

Hello Spring! Oh how we have missed your colour and your light!

Here are our top tips for updating your kitchen this Spring:

We think William Morris was right when he said “have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” and Spring is the perfect time to clear out your kitchen drawers and cupboards of any chipped crockery or broken utensils. We love the beautiful ceramic tableware, colourful glassware, marble serveware and metallic cutlery from @oliverbonas which will cheer up any kitchen by adding colour and pattern.

A new coat of paint is an easy way to clean and freshen up your kitchen. Tackle the whole room or add a brave pop of colour to the back of a bookcase or feature wall. Why not be brave and use the Pantone colour of the year - Greenery - which will refresh and revitalise your kitchen, or simply bring in greenery with plants which are going to be the must have decoration for your house.

When the Spring clean is complete we love to get organised and this Spring we will be installing a bespoke boot room in our Harrogate design studio, which will incorporate storage under a walnut bench seat and artisan coat hooks. We love these steam bent walnut coat hooks from husband and wife team @layertree who design and make their products in Suffolk.

Spring kitchens should embrace the lighter and brighter days. Install transparent surfaces and mirrors to throw light around the room. We love the antique mirrored splashbacks and reverse gilded glass splash backs from @rougholdglass which create a stunning feature in both traditional and contemporary kitchens.

If you agree with Leo Tolstoy that “Spring is the time of plans and projects” why not take on a bigger scheme to bring in more light by installing full height glazing or bi-fold doors in your kitchen. They will give rooms an alfresco feel by connecting your kitchen to your patio or garden. We love the thought of the weather getting warmer, opening up our windows and doors and letting the warm breeze through the house.

With our clean, organised, lighter and brighter kitchen ready for Spring we will love sitting down with a cup of tea, looking out at the garden and looking forward to the promise of summer!
